Oh I know. Let me tell you what I’ve been doing lately. I’ve been turning everything into a landshark. Oops wrong line. That’s from Jenna Marbles’ latest video, which I’ve been watching hundreds of times over the last couple of days. Anyhow, where was I? Oh yeah, what I’ve been doing lately: Omegle. It’s a chat website that sets you up with a complete stranger to talk with. It’s like Chatroulette (methinks. I’ve never visited Chatroulette) but safer for kids lol.

One day, specifically six days ago, I came across chat logs from a site called Omegle on Tumblr. Curious, I checked out the site to see what the fuss was about, and also to know how to pronounce that word (oh-mee-gull? or is it French? oh-me-glay?).

My experience went from hey-I’m-digging-this to eew-this-site-is-a-melting-pot-of-secks-crazy-sickos, and finally to hey-this-is-a-fun-time-waster-I’m-going-to-procrastinate-work-and-go-on-Omegle-instead!

I mostly go on Omegle to beat boredom, and to troll. But let me tell you. It is full of perverts. And there’s the occasional racist. But the best thing about the site is that there’s a huge disconnect button at the bottom left corner, and there’s no need to register. None of your information shows up, you’re introduced as a “stranger”, and if things get uncomfortable, you can disconnect before you can say “dafuq?”

I think I just invented a new medium of art: digital finger painting with a laptop trackpad.

Unless someone else thought of it first, I think I should be crowned an art movement pioneer. lol But seriously, I don’t quite use a mouse with my laptop because mice are just another piece of equipment you have to drag along everywhere you go. Pfft computer mice? That’s for mortals.

So what I do to draw stuff is use the trackpad with my fingers. And that’s it. So it’s technically finger painting. Am I right or am I left? xD

This doodle here is my hand tattoo. Tried my best to copy it on MS Paint (I don’t have Photoshop on my lappy yet).

And yes, I have a tattoo. It’s pretty small, about three to four inches, and runs from the back of my thumb to my wrist on my right hand. I’ve had it for almost four years.

I still have some articles to write so I’ll end this short post with that. Maybe I’ll post the provocatacious piece; maybe I won’t. We’ll see.

A typhoon is the same as a hurricane, except that it wreaks havoc in and around the Pacific Ocean instead of the Atlantic Ocean. Typhoons are a combination of a storm surge and strong winds. They can destroy houses, cause overflowing of rivers and lakes, and devastate people’s lives.

Being prepared for typhoons can save lives and properties. Below are very important safety and preparation procedures.

Preparing for Evacuation

1. Is you house strong enough?

Check whether or not your can remain inside your house when a typhoon attacks. Your home may be able to stand up to a small storm, but collapse during violent blasts. If your house isn’t strong enough, evacuate well before a scary storm comes.

Stay at higher ground, away from rivers that might overflow. But make sure you’re not near a cliff that’s prone to landslides.

If it’s too late to leave the house and too dangerous to go out, find a way to climb the house and stay on the roof. Many typhoon victims make the mistake of leaving the house when there’s a surge of flood water. Don’t take the risk of drowning. Get yourself and your family on the roof of your house.

Listen for warnings signals, evacuation routes, and emergency shelters from your local officials.

2. Always monitor weather forecasts.

Make a list of TV and radio programs where you can obtain storm and weather information. Save phone numbers to call in cases of emergency, such as:

3. Designate a meeting point for your family.

Choose a location where you and your family can meet if ever you become separated. Ask a relative living outside the city or province to be a contact. That out-of-city person should be assigned to call everyone to see if they’re okay after a calamity.

4. Shut down everything before evacuating.

Before leaving your house for an evacuation center or a relative’s house, remember to shut off water, gas, and electricity.

5. Load enough fuel for your car.

If you have a car, fill it with enough gas, especially when there’s a storm coming.

Assembling a Typhoon Kit

1. Pack instant food.

Pack food that doesn’t need to be cooked or refrigerated as well as disposable spoons, forks, plates, bowls, and knives. Bring food that will last each person and pet at least three days. If you can, bring food and water that will last one to two weeks.

2. Store a supply of water.

A person needs four to five gallons of clean water every day to use for drinking and washing. Our pets also need water. One of the saddest things about typhoons is that they can cause floods, and strong flood currents can damage water pipes, leaving an entire community run short of water supply.

Always have a steady supply of water at home and pack bottles of water before evacuating. This should get you all prepped up.

3. Flashlights, batteries, cell phone, and transistor radio.

Whether or not you’re going to evacuate, stock up on flashlights, lanterns, oil lamps, candles, matches, extra batteries, and fuel. Cyclones, windstorms, and rainstorms can knock down power supply facilities and electricity posts. You don’t want to be groping in the dark during a blackout.

Be careful when using lamps and candles. They might fall to the floor and start fires.

Of course, you need your mobile phone to contact your loved ones to make sure they’re okay and to ask for help. A transistor radio will also help you stay in contact with the outside world.

Make sure your phone is charged, and place your electronic gadgets inside an airtight plastic bag to keep them dry and away from damage.

4. Include a medical kit.

Fever, colds, scrapes, scratches, and other injuries are very common during weather-related calamities. With a handy dandy medical kit, you can give first aid treatments right away. Include adhesive bandages, fever and cold medicine, antiseptic wipes, rubbing alcohol, cotton, soap, scissors, and tweezers among others.

5. Don’t forget clothes and toiletries.

It may take time for you to rebuild. Until you can bring your life back to normal, you may need to live in temporary homes or shelters. If that happens, you’re going to need life’s basic necessities, including clothes and toiletries. You wouldn’t want to stink.

Bring sturdy shoes or boots as well so you can protect your feet from debris and sharp objects that the wind or flood may carry.

Don’t forget an umbrella and weatherproof jacket.

Packing Your Bags

1. Pack a backpack for everyone.

Every person in the house should have one backpack or small bag for a set of clothes and toiletries good enough for three days.

2. Put pillows and blankets in a plastic bag.

A plastic bag will keep your pillows and blankets dry. Bundle a pillow and blanket for every person in the house, and place each bundle in a plastic bag to bring along during evacuation.

3. Protect important documents.

Include a bag for documents and photos that you can’t afford to lose or get damaged, such as wedding photos and wills.

4. Where can I store the evacuation kits?

Place all the bed bundles and evacuation kits near the door so that you can easily grab them when leaving the house.

A typhoon can leave your properties broken and unusable. But remember this: material items can be replaced, human lives can’t. Staying alive is the most important thing to do.

Typhoon Sendong may have taken houses and loved ones, but it’s not taking Christmas. The project aims to bring food, water, and gifts to the typhoon victims. Let’s give them a reason to remember that this is the season to be jolly.

Kagay-anons (and even non-residents) are encouraged to gather on Christmas day and spread the holiday cheer. From what I’ve read from their Facebook page, the idea is to gather with your friends and relatives in teams, and give relief goods to the typhoon victims.

If for some reason you can’t make it to the gift giving event, you can drop off donations (in cash or in kind) at Parasat Cable TV, Corrales, Cagayan de Oro. Just make sure to label your package with “Christmas to the Streets.”

The project seeks to spread the holiday spirit, so it would be great if you can wrap the relief goods in fun Christmas wrapping paper.
